CHAPTER 13

Erin

I couldn’t believe my eyes. Tyler Moore at my door step. I had almost given up. I thought that I was never going to hear from him again. He was looking at me and touching my nose to taste the icing which had exploded in my face when I put the setting on the mixer too high.

“I don’t know whether I should punch you or kiss you.” I was leaning toward the latter.

“I thought I would surprise you. I know how this is the one year anniversary of your grandmother’s passing. I suspect you are in short supply of friends you haven’t slept with.” The turkey he had was better than the chicken legs with the burnt skin and still frozen in the middle.

He was right about losing friends that I slept with. The “talk” with both Enrique and Frank was relatively drama-free. I met up with each of them at a local coffee shop. Enrique was more emotional than Frank just as I suspected. Enrique offered to have whatever relationship arrangement I wanted. Frank gracefully accepted my decision. At the end of each talk, I wished them well, walked away and never looked back. It was a tough but necessary decision, my recovery was far too important for me. I followed the recovery plan to the letter, I had taken my time of celibacy to rewire my brain and body, so I could be ready for the right man. Tyler’s timing couldn’t be better.

“I’m sorry that we lost touch and maybe I was worried I was using you as a crutch.” He leaned in and I found his lips to still have the aftertaste of the sweet icing. His soft lips ignited something animalistic in me. My heart was ready and allowed my body to follow my instinct. I could finally have him!

I ripped open his shirt, buttons flew off. He looked like a stunned animal, motionless. I used the icing on my fingers to paint circles around his nipples. I made him sigh with contentment. I actually found myself biting him to hear him yelp in discomfort and pleasure at the same time.

“I don’t think anything more has to be said.” He walked up the stairs before me and turned with the rose in his hand.

He began to pluck the petals off of the flower. He dropped each individual one in a trail leading down the hall to the bedroom.

I followed mesmerized by his romantic gesture. Opening up the door, I was greeted with him lying on the bed without his shirt on.

“I didn’t take you for the romantic sort. I think in a big way I was consciously trying to keep you at a distance. It wasn’t you. It was me.” It sounded like something someone would say when they were trying to let someone down gently.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” His question stymied me for a moment and then I made up my mind. I was emotionally ready.

“It has been lonely. Those two guys I mentioned haven’t darkened my doorstep since I had the talk with them.
